Religious Ethnics
The Religious Ethnics of an aboriginal state the proper ways of living altogether with the land. That consists of nature and other aboriginals. They are laws needed to maintain correct relations with everything as the land is home to the Ancestor Beings. These are basically laws from the Ancestor Beings in which control both social and religious life of an aboriginal. The laws are shared through stories which usually express the wrongdoing of the people which lead to disastrous events or punishments. The moral of the stories serve as warning/lesson to the aboriginals. When an aboriginal sins, their incorrect behaviour also affects their tribe as it is believed that your wrongdoing breaks your group's bond. Due to this, consequences are usually set by the tribe. One of the laws of the aboriginal's state that the killing of an animal related to one's dreaming (their totem) is not permitted.
When the British converted aboriginals to Christianity, they were made to believe a set of different laws, similar to their own. Christian laws teach the correct behaviours socially and religiously as well, though there aren't as many laws based on animals or the land in general. These laws are taught through stories leading up to disastrous events or punishments also. The religious ethnics of Christians are to be shared and understood the same way the religious ethnics of aboriginals are, except the Christian laws are more human relationship based. A simplified form of laws for Christians are the 10 commandments:
1) Do not have false Gods
2) Do not take God's name in vain
3) Keep Holy the Lord's day
4) Honour your father and mother
5) Do not kill
6) Do not commit adultery
7) Do not steal
8) Do not lie
9) Honour your neighbour's wife
10) Honour your neighbour's goods
